Is it Important to Eat Carbs to Digest Protein?

Few people would say that if it is not important to eat carbs to properly digest the protein. Then why people mix carbs in their protein drink? Well, you mix carbs in your protein drink to supply additional energy to your body. Protein is not a good source of energy. They help in building muscles mainly. This is why people include carbs in their protein drink. There is nothing like that it will help to digest the protein.

Carbohydrates are easy to digest than protein. Carbohydrates start their breakdown in your mouth before they reach the stomach. While, the protein starts the breakdown in your stomach. Some particular enzymes in stomach convert the protein into amino acids and they are carried into small special cells. These special cells deliver the building block of muscles amino acids through the body. So, you can see that carbs and protein differently digest in the stomach. 1. carbs won’t digest protein..you need strong fibers in your diet to maximize absorption of nutrients in your digestive system…fibers not only help you form soft stools but also remove excess wastes, and prevent the accumulation of toxins in the digestive system..we all want a clean digestive system, don’t we? 🙂

    • Hi Nikki, Yes you are right, carbs don’t help to digest the protein. Yes, fibers are helpful to soften the stool and prevent constipation and other stomach problems. Thanks for adding extra info to the post. 🙂
