On 11 December 2014 United Nations General Assembly approved 21st June as International Day of Yoga. 21st June 2015 is the first International Yoga Day. Celebrating International Yoga Day will encourage people around the world to practice Yoga.

Yoga originates in India 6000 Years ago, it is an ancient way to connect body with mind. It is not just an exercise; it is way to find our self within us. Yoga is way to establish harmony between mind, body and nature. This is why Yoga is supported and assimilated by the world.

Common Yoga Protocol

There are some rules that must be followed before and during Yoga. These rules are called Common Yoga Protocol. It is released by Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. These protocols are to create general awareness in people to get benefits from Yoga.

People who are going to practice Yoga should follow the guidelines. Before starting the Yoga you should follow the cleanliness of body, mind and surroundings. You must find a calm environment to practice yoga. Before doing Yoga you must clean your bowel, and practice with empty stomach. You should wear comfortable and loose clothes and practice on a soft mat. If you are a patient of any chronic disease or pregnant then a Yoga therapist should be consulted before starting the practice.

There are certain guidelines that must be followed during the practice of Yoga. Yoga is always started with a prayer, this prayer invoke your inner self and relaxes your thoughts. All the Yoga practice is performed in relaxed manner, slowly. You should breathe slowly with your nasal during the practice and do not hold your breath unless it is mentioned. Follow the repetitions that are mentioned during the practice. Yoga takes some time to show results, keep patience and continue practice. Yoga session should end with meditation.
